Short Bio

I completed my BSc in Chemistry at the University of Florence, including a nine-month Erasmus exchange at the University ofManchester. I then obtained my MSc in Chemistry at the University of Milan, carrying out my thesis research in Germany (Leibniz University Hannover) and a postgraduate traineeship in Sweden (Uppsala University). Throughout my studies, I mainly focused on organicchemistry, particularly total and semisynthesis.

My scientific interests lie in organic synthesis and, more broadly, in research that can have a tangible impact on society. I am especially interested in pharmaceutical applications and in developing more sustainable chemical processes. In this context, the use of biocatalysis in organicchemistry is an area that I find particularly exciting.

Outside science, I enjoy sports—which I practice at a professional level—travelling, swimming, learning new languages and spending timewith dogs. If I had not become a scientist, I might have pursued a career as a professional athlete.

I can get really enthusiastic about research, especially when unexpected results open up new opportunities or lead to exciting discoveries.On the other hand, I find it difficult to appreciate situations where people are unwilling to put in the necessary effort.My goal after the DN is to build a career in pharmaceutical research and development, ideally in an international environment where I can contributeto innovative projects with a positive impact on society.
