Short Bio
I obtained both my Bachelor’s and my Master’s degree in Chemistry in the joint program of the University of Graz and the Graz University of Technology, completed with an Erasmus exchange at the University of Groningen.
Despite being also very enthusiastic about traditional organic synthesis, I enjoy working on the interface of organic chemistry and biochemistry even more, which is why I focused on biocatalytic nitration reactions during my Master’s thesis research.
Outside the lab, I enjoy baking, doing crossword puzzles, board game or pub quiz nights with friends and trying out new sports as well as reading – if I wouldn’t have become a scientist, I would have liked to become an editor at a publishing company.
I can get really enthusiastic about books, concerts and of course my research – even though getting stuck at certain research stages, especially if I previously thought that they will probably be the easiest obstacle to solve, can get frustrating at times. After successfully completing my PhD within the DN, I would love to continue doing research with a positive impact on the environment and society as whole, whether that is an industrial or academic setting.
