Short Bio

I studied biology at the Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany where I developed a strong interest in the world of microorganism during my bachelor studies. Continuing with my master’s degree, I decided to look for an application-oriented field for my M.Sc. thesis and was immediately fascinated using enzymes for biotransformations and to be able to engineer them towards our requirements.

After work I enjoy drinking a good coffee or spending some time in the kitchen cooking and baking. Thus, if I had not become a scientist I might have become a café owner probably. After completing my PhD, I would like to gain experience in the industry on real applications of biocatalysts for a few years to decide whether I prefer to stay in industry or academia in the long term.
